Awful site

Awful site. Took £19.99 out of my account with no warning. I contacted them the day the money came out to cancel my account but they will not give a refund. Con you in with a free trial with no reminder. Do not use or give your bank details to this site.

Ancestry uk SCAM subscription…

I cancelled my ancestry.uk subscription a month previously however the cheeky b***s are still taking my money.. I tried to contact them using the 'customer help' tab.... guess what? .... it starts to load then reverts back to the login page, so login again, and the same thing happens...the other thing they don't tell you is that even if you pay the subscription when searching, they tease you with 'there is more information .... IF YOU PAY MORE!! I am incensed about this, how many people are being scammed in this way, how much time is wasted in sorting this out, if I don't get my payment back SOON, I will take this as far as I can legally..!!!!

Ancestry took money £69.99 from my…

Ancestry took money £69.99 from my paypal account without my permission, while I was on a free months trial. I registered with them on the 2nd April 2021 the money was taken out on the 17th April 2021. Definitely not a free month. After a phone call to Ancestry they have refunded my money. But I no longer trust them. I was going to pay ten pounds a month to use their service. So because of this they have lost a potentially good customer.

Watch out for autorenewals

Bought the test kit for my wife - she loved it !!!Only problem was that six months later my account was deducted £99 through an autorenewal. To be fair after contacting Ancestry they refunded in full

Misdirection of mail

I have moved house since joining Ancestry.co.uk and somewhere my original address must still show on their database (I cannot find where that is). I realised my DNA test had been sent to my previous address a day or so after it had been dispatched even though my billing address was correct. When I rang about this Patryk was helpful, apologetic and reassuring. He de-activated the original pack and said another one would be sent to my current address immediately.

WHAT A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS.

My cousin created a family tree and sent me a link to add some stuff to it for him. I clicked on the link and of course didn't have the scan guard up as he is my cousin and ancestry.com is an international company.I was sent around in an endless loop of offers to sign up for free trials, which I understandably did. Then they had me in their control and wouldn't allow me to contribute to the tree even though I could clearly see that my cousin had given me contributor privileges. So, they said that I had signed up for an American free trial and that I needed to change it to a UK one. Off I went again with debit card in hand and BOOM THEY'VE SCAMMED ME. I took a second take as I couldn't believe that I had been scammed as I consider myself to very tech and scam savvy.Checked my bank and there it was £24.95 taken from ancestry.com. Phoned my bank and was gradually escalated to the highest level fraud team. I explained to them what had happened and that I subsequently read this small print "As you have signed up for a free trial you agree that you have already used the service that you have paid for and therefore will not be entitled to a refund". Fraud investigator without hesitation said that I had been misinformed and actioned an immediate charge back of the funds to my account. They also said that ancestry.com would now be on their watch list. Took me about one hour on the phone to reach the level within the bank that was necessary to achieve the charge back. Well worth every minute of it to see justice and protect others from being scammed. My cousin spent a long time on live help to ancestry.com but was treated like a fool and fobbed off by the advisor. He is way more tech savvy than most people due to his profession.PLEASE DON'T GIVE ANCESTRY.COM YOUR CARD DETAILS OR SIGN UP FOR THEIR FREE TRIALS. KEEP HOLD OF YOUR HARD EARNED CASH AND SPEND IT ON SOMETHING THAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY SEE AND ENJOY.
